THE 'ZERO' MARKET

3DSMAX │ 2021

A design proposal for a pop-up market; to take place at Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre (HYC) that aims to promote sustainability and a healthy lifestyle by selling organic produce and sustainable goods. The stalls are designed with sustainable considerations while being versatile with the countless possibilities for display arrangements available for tenants to choose from. When combined, a dynamic visual and a unique path is created, sparking curiousity as visitors explore the wonders of what the market has to offer.

VISION

My vision was for each stall to be a unique fragment. When joined together, they form a special arrangement that resemble crystals in a cave. This creates dynamism and movement, bringing the rigid corridors of the youth center to life.

INSPIRATION

The inspiration for the stall design was mainly derived from the angular form of the wooden trusses at the gallery entrances of the existing sit. This iconic trademark of the building was integrated into the stall design to give the pop-up market a unique sense of identity that belonged to Tzu Chi, keeping in mind that the market is forseen to be relocated into various parts of Singapore.

SPACE PLANNING

To create a unique experience within the market, the stalls are arranged in a way that creates dynamism and provided many interesting paths for visitors to take as they explore the market. Stalls are angled specifically to ensure that products can be seen from many angles and appeal to visitors.
